The winners were adjudged by an independent panel of judges represented by industry/ academic veterans such as Prof. R. Natarajan (former Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras), Mr. A. S. Mariasundaram (India Engineering Leader, GE Energy) and Mr. V. Ravi (Industry veteran).

Dr Matthew Orchard, VP and Head of Engineering Wing, Airbus attended the occasion as the Chief Guest and congratulated the lucky winners on their success while presenting them with the trophies, the cash prize and the grand prize of the visit to the Airbus facility in the UK.

Commenting on the intercollegiate festival, QuEST Ingenium 2013, Dr Matthew Orchard said: “Airbus recognizes that India has a lot of potential for developing talent, especially with people working in the Engineering sector.  This developing talent pool continues to raise India’s international profile in engineering. Airbus is keen to play its part to empower and motivate this talent, so naturally we are pleased to support the Ingenium event with QuEST Global to promote Engineering talent within India.”

Winners and participants of Ingenium 2013 were encouraged by the CEO and co-founder of Grey Orange Robotics, Mr. Samay Kohli who addressed the budding engineers.

“For me, the journey to commercialize technology began with an early experiment to build a human-like robot. Our experiments in robotics started way back in college where we had put together ‘AcYut’, India’s first indigenously developed series of robots, resembling the human body. Engineering learning begins in college and this is the time when we can experiment and convert our ideas into innovative experiments. Ingenium is a great platform to motivate budding engineers to showcase their talent through such engineering innovations,” said Mr. Samay Kohli.

In this 3rd edition of Ingenium, QuEST Global in association with Airbus is giving winners the opportunity to travel on an all expenses sponsored trip to the largest Airbus facility based in the United Kingdom, in addition to a cash price.  As a part of this tour, winning students will be taken to the world’s most modern aircraft wing assembly facility located at the state-of-art Airbus plant in Broughton, North Wales.

Also present on the occasion Dr. Ajay Prabhu, COO of QuEST Global adds, “The Engineering Services industry in India is expected to quadruple to $40B by 2020 requiring more than ten lakh core engineers of excellent quality. QuEST has a long tradition of working closely with the educational institutes to encourage future engineers of India. Ingenium has come a long way in bringing out the talent of engineering students from across the length and breadth of the country. I am delighted that Dr Matthew Orchard of Airbus has given a huge boost to Ingenium in 2013”

The entries invited earlier this year were from final year B.E/B.Tech engineering students from core engineering domains spanning Aerospace & Defense, Aeroengines, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Power Generation and Production Engineering from across India. Following a stringent and meticulous selection process by an independent jury, 1413entries were considered and 10 entries have been shortlisted to travel to Bangalore and present their projects to a panel of experts.

QuEST Ingenium 2013 edition received an outstanding nationwide response, as compared to the last year, this year saw a dramatic increase in the number of entries. A total of over 1400 entries received this year reflect the growing popularity of this contest among engineering students.
